Remembrance Sunday

Posted Friday 9th November 2018

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we remember those who served this country

Remembrance Sunday always falls on the second Sunday of November, this year it’s on 11th November 2018, it’s also the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

It’s a day for us to remember and honour all the people who took part in the two world wars and sacrificed their freedom for ours. Poppies are used to help us remember because they are the plant that grew on the battlefields after the Great War.

The National Service of Remembrance will be held at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London. Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II will be attending the ceremony along with Members of the Cabinet, Opposition Party leaders, former Prime Ministers, the Mayor of London and other ministers. Representatives of the Armed Forces, Fishing Fleets and Merchant Air and Navy will also be there.

As a thank you, we’re offering all current serving members of the Forces and veterans a free coffee from our cafe. Please note a current or former Forces ID/documentation must be presented.
